Looking to build upon Mill Creek’s successful American Cancer Society Relay for Life event last summer, planning is underway to grow participation to 35 teams and donations to exceed $60,000 this year. Interested members of the greater Mill Creek community are invited to attend the kick-off meeting at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23 at the former Zen Garden Restaurant at 16300 Mill Creek Blvd.
Relay for Life is a team-oriented event to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who have been lost to cancer, honor those who are fighting cancer & fight back by raising funds for cancer research & for local cancer support programs. Teams take turns walking around the track throughout the night, representing the reality that cancer never sleeps. This year, Mill Creek’s event will be held June 1, 2013 at McCollum Park.
The kick-off meeting on Jan 23 is the right time to come find out more about the event, sign up to form a team or volunteer to help organize & promote the event. This event is a great way to unite with people in our community who have been affected by cancer, and to use your passion to save lives & create a world with more birthdays. Do tell.
