Children’s Concerts

Beginning this week on Wednesday, July 27th the Mill Creek Library Park will provide the venue for the 2011 Mill Creek Summer Concert Series. These free concerts for children and their families will run on Wednesdays from 12-1 pm for the next 4 weeks.

These shows are co-spnsored by the Friends of the Mill Creek Library and the Mill Creek Parks and Recreation Department. And while this is called a concert series, don’t think of it as simply music. Over the course of the series there will be puppets, stories, stunts, skits, poetry, comedy, juggling, and opportunities for audience participation. Do tell.

The schedule:

  • Jul 27 — Buck and Elizabeth Cowboy/cowgirl themed musical experience.
  • Aug 3 — Eric Ode Music, stories, skits, poetry, props and puppets.
  • Aug 10 — Nancy Stewart National award-winning song writer and performer.
  • Aug 17 — Alex Zebre Family friendly entertainment including high energy comedy, stunts, juggling and audience participation.
Parking is available in the library parking lot & on the North side of the street off 156th St SE in Mill Creek, or you may use the lot near Azteca Restaurant across the Bothell-Everett Highway from the library. Use caution crossing the highway using the crosswalks at the controlled intersections at all times. Please and thank you. Help Shape Mill Creek’s Future

STRATEGIC PLAN: Creating Our Vision for Mill Creek’s Future.

The City of Mill Creek is hosting an Open House Monday, July 18th from 5-7PM at the City Hall Annex — 15720 Main Street Mill Creek, WA 98012

The City is looking for input from citizens to help create a Strategic Plan for Mill Creek that will set priorities and guide decision making in the future. Do tell.

Questions to ponder: What City services are the most important to you? What park or trail projects are planned in the near future? Have you always wanted to know where your tax dollars go? [Well, yes!] The City is looking for interested, engaged citizens of Mill Creek to be involved in answering these and other questions. City staff will be there to listen to your ideas and to answer questions.

There will be prizes, refreshments & a Kid’s Activity Area to keep your children entertained while you visit the open house.

Providence Medical-Festival Title Sponsor

Providence Regional Medical Center of Everett is the Title sponsor of this year’s Mill Creek Festival and Street Fair. As such, they will be highly visible during the event held this this weekend – July 16th and 17th –  in Mill Creek.

Covering 6 booths, representatives from Providence will be on hand to answer questions and offer information about all the services, features and ammenities offered by the Providence Regional Medical Center including the new innovative  Marshall and Katherine Cymbaluk Medical Tower which opened June 14th.

In addition to plenty of information and tips on how to stay healthy and/or find care when you need it, there will be big Teddy bears and gift certificates to Azul Restaurant of Mill Creek among other goodies. Meet primary care physicians from Providence Physician Group at the official Festival First Aid Booth.

Sure to be popular with festival goers, is the Inside Out Organ Show — an innovative tool to educate people of all ages about choices they make and the negative effects those choices may have on their bodies. Do tell.

Mill Creek Festival

Make plans to have fun this weekend with family and friends. Attend the annual Mill Creek Festival and Street Fair presented by The Mill Creek Business Association, Providence Regional Medical in Everett & North Creek Roofing. This year the festival runs Saturday July 16th and Sunday July 17th beginning at 11AM.

Parking should be a breeze this year because of the free shuttle service running continuously [ 7AM to 7PM on Saturday & 10AM to 6PM on Sunday ] between the parking lot at Jackson High School and the North end of the Mill Creek Festival site.

Highlights include favorites such as the Pet Plaza, the Kids Korner, Arts & Crafts, Main Stage and Community Stage entertainment, Beer Garden, non-profit and commercial booths. There will be food booths in addition to the many dining options throughout Mill Creek.

Returning this year after being sorely missed last year is a car show! This year the Rod-Tiques — a Premier Northwest car club, will produce the classic car event for the festival. While in the past festival car shows have featured Chevrolet Corvettes or Ford Mustangs, Rod-Tiques open their shows to any special interest auto. Car enthusiasts can expect to see just about anything, from wild customs to lovingly restored models from the 40’s through the 60’s at their showroom best. Car show is Sunday July 17 8AM-4PM.

Community Stage: Local artists such as White Tiger Martial Arts, Applause Studio Solos, Gold Creek Trio, Zumba, “So So Suessical the Mini Musical”, Kidz Mix with Blake, and Uncle Stinky’s Magic. Do tell.

Music Mid-Week

As we all know, Summer in Western Washington begins not on June 21st, but on July 5th! So it’s only fitting that the Music Mid-Week in Mill Creek Summer Concert Series should begin on July 6th.

This popular concert series is back thanks to the generous donations from North Creek Roofing, Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Windermere Real Estate, Windermere Mortgage Services, Azul, Central Market, City of Mill Creek, Rotary of Mill Creek and Mill Creek Business Association. Do tell.

Cherry-Cherry —a Neil Diamond Tribute band will kick-off the series this Wednesday, July 6th from 6-8PM at The Forum at Creekside Village, located at the Northend of the Town Center between The Blazing Onion, Capri – Ristorante Italiano, Firestation Deli and the Muddy Buddy Dogwash.
